Pilot Plug (“the app”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the app handles data on your device.

1. Data the app uses

The app reads the following on-device only, while running:

• NMEA sentences (position, heading, rate of turn, speed) received over Wi-Fi from the vessel’s pilot plug.
• AIS messages (own-ship and other-ship reports) received over Wi-Fi from the vessel’s pilot plug.
• Wi-Fi network state, used to detect connection to the pilot plug and warn the user about Android-specific Wi-Fi handover behaviour on networks without internet access.

The app does not use the device’s GPS, Bluetooth, microphone, camera, contacts, or any other personal sensor.

2. How this data is used

• Data is used in real time to display ship position, heading, motion prediction, and AIS targets on the screen.
• The FREEZE function captures a single position snapshot for the user’s own logbook reference; this snapshot remains on the device and is shown only to the user.
• No data is uploaded to any server, shared with other users, or transmitted to any third party.

3. Data storage

• Pilot Plug does not require user accounts.
• The app does not collect personal information such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, or device identifiers.
• The app does not maintain a persistent log or history of vessel positions.
• User-configured settings (e.g. AIS / NMEA source selection, Docking Mode preferences, ship setup) are stored locally on the device and never transmitted.

4. Network communication

• Pilot Plug communicates only with the local pilot plug network to receive NMEA / AIS data.
• The app does not require internet access to function and does not send data to any external server.

5. Third-party services

Pilot Plug does not use third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services. No personal user data is shared with any third party.

6. Children’s privacy

Pilot Plug is a professional tool intended for licensed maritime pilots and is not directed at children. The app does not knowingly collect data from anyone, regardless of age.
